- The Epiphone Les Paul Standard
One of the most famous guitars on earth is the Gibson Les Paul. It is used by countless rock and blues musicians, yet the awesome guitar carries a hefty price tag. For the rest of us, the Epiphone Les Paul standard is a much more affordable choice.
On the face of it, the Epiphone Les Paul Standard is pretty much an identical replica of its Gibson big brother. However, the Epiphone versions tend to have slightly cheaper parts like humbuckers and slightly less quality wood. These small sacrifices though allow for a big difference in price.
There are several different variations of the Epiphone Les Paul Standard including the Les Paul ES, Ace Freehley Signature Les Paul, Les Paul-100, Les Paul Special II, Les Paul Ultra Series and the limited edition 1959 Les Paul Standard.
Musicians of all kinds are attracted to the Les Paul, you can find a huge range of famous musicians playing the guitar, whether they are in a rock, blues or jazz band.
Independent record labels
Lots of independent record labels are the lifeblood of young struggling rock musicians and solo artists who are shunned by the larger record labels. The advent of reality shows such as “Britain’s Got Talent” and “The X Factor”, has given some the chance to be seen and heard but invariably they are not able to show their own skills having to cover songs by previous artists and basically jump through hoops to produce music that is not their style. The very fortunate ones do win record contracts but usually under strict contracts that still stifle their original dream and ability. Independent record producers are willing and interested to attract new and edgier musicians and music styles and provide the recording facilities and promotional know how to launch the music. Individual websites of record producers are a great spring board for the public to log on and listen to the music or to actually purchase the CD on line. The websites of record companies also are a great venue to find where new music and musicians can be heard as they invariably will give you information about forthcoming music events and festivals that would feature predominantly new bands and they supply links to the festival sites or venues in order for you to be able to purchase tickets. Potential singers can contact the label directly but quite often they themselves are approached when the producer of the record label has seen them doing a set in a pub or club and he feels that their style and music would sit well with other artists on the label.
